A beautiful building. Really beautiful. It has a style and a soul. If you like traditional Nepalese buildings, and everybody does, you will love this one. Outstanding staff. High personal culture, great attire, naturally smiling, always very helpful. Excellent food that warrants a separate paragraph. Fresh and tasty. Served in a relaxing, quiet restaurant. It was so good that we never went for any street food even though street food was one of the things "we had to do". Perfect location. A short walk to Durbar Square with the Asan Bazar halfway through. You have all the Kathmandu noise and beauty just around the corner, and it's so quiet inside (our room window faced the inner courtyard). Some people may not like the smell of old wooden wardrobes in the rooms. I've found it charming.

This hotel was special because of the outstanding helpfulness of the staff who seemed genuinly interested in the welfare of me and my travel companion. Nothing was too much trouble. Documents were printed for me, laundry arrangements made and I was even provided with a hair drier to dry out my hiking boots! After i had checked out on my final day and returned to pick up my baggage and wait for a taxi, I was offered a bed to get some rest before my long journey home. How good is that? Other good things about the hotel are 1) fabulous architectural design 2) located in a central location buzzing ith life 3) unlimited drinking water supplied automatically in a jug at your bedside and 4) they have a pretty good chef who can produce some interesting tasty meals.

After trekking in the Himalayas for 3 weeks staying at Kantipur Temple House felt like pure luxury. For us it was the perfect mix of tradition and modernity. Our room on the third floor was spacious, clean and quiet. We had endless hot water, electricity and super comfortable beds. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We loved the continental breakfast as well as a delicious dinner in the atmospheric hotel restaurant - can highly recommend that! The location on a quiet backstreet between Durbar Square and Thamel was ideal. We appreciated the hotel´s plastic free policy and enjoyed participating in the two activities offered by the hotel for free: a city walk and yoga class.

It is a gorgeous large hotel with a generous garden. The architecture is vintage Nepali traditional style even though it is a modern construction. The room was large and cozy. They gave us a heater because it was almost 10 deg C at nights. The staff is friendly and helpful and very cooperative. The in house dining is incredibly tasty and charmingly served. Don't miss eating the thali there. You will come back for it again and again! We were also offered a free 1.5 hour heritage walk facility and free morning yoga on the terrace during our stay! The hotel is a short walk from the main Thamel market road as well as the Garden of Dreams.

We were in the heart of Kathmandu in a property that obviously is authentic and has been a quality hotel for some time. It is showing its age and is not a 5 star facility. But, it is comfortable, the food there is very good, the staff is excellent and the facility is well managed. I recommend it for people who are willing to enjoy the history and location and are not expecting pretentiousness in their hotel. It is also a spot in the city with a nice private courtyard away from the motor scooters and crowds; a very nice, quiet place to kick back and enjoy your favorite beverage and some snacks in comfort with great service.
